KNU claims 333 Myanmar junta soldiers killed in Karen State during November

333 junta soldiers were killed and 237 were injured in approximately 290 battles in Karen State during the month of November 2022, according to a Karen National Union (KNU) statement.

Fighting against the the junta army and the junta aligned Border Guard Force (BGF) were the KNU and its armed wings, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the Karen National Defense Organisation (KNDO), local people’s defence forces (PDFs), guerrilla groups and other local defence forces.

Of those anti-junta forces, 30 were killed and nearly 70 were injured in fighting during November 2022, according to the KNU statement which also said that the fiercest fighting was in Dooplaya District, an area under the control of KNU Brigade 6.

KNU-led forces also raided two police stations in November and arrested four police officers. Two police officers from Wallay Police Station were also arrested in possession of illegal drugs.

Previously, in an interview with Mizzima on 6 November, Pado Saw Taw Ni, a KNU spokesperson, said that there had been approximately 7,000 clashes between Karen defence forces and junta forces between the February 2021 coup and October 2022.
