KNDF attacks army base in Karenni State’s Hpruso Township

The Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) infiltrated and attacked the Military Council’s Light Infantry Division 428 base in Hpruso township, Karenni State.

The fighting started at around 2 PM on 26 February and lasted for about 50 minutes, according to a KNDF announcement.

The KNDF attacked with snipers and grenade launchers, killing at least two junta soldiers and injuring many more, according to the KNDF communications department. When the junta troops fought back with artillery strikes the KNDF troops retreated.

In the early morning of 27 February, Military Council forces dropped bombs onto Lo Bar Kho village in Demoso township, Karenni State, where thousands of IDPs were sheltering.

The Military Council has also restricted the use of the YarDo section of the Demoso- Sibu- YarDo-Taungoo Road.

Because junta troops are advancing, the KNDF made an announcement warning people not to travel to Mobye, Loikaw and Demoso townships. Sources on the ground reported that during February, in Karenni State, there was intense fighting and the military council carried out about 30 airstrikes.
