The Karen Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) Battalion (14) reported on 7 June that five drug traffickers were arrested the day before in Pein Chit village, Loi Lin Lay town, Loikaw Township, Karenni State.

Five people were arrested by the Battalion (14) of Karen Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) Battalion (14) and the Karenni State Police (KSP) No. (5), on 6 June.

According to the information of the joint force in Karenni State, the five drug traffickers were reportedly arrested along with 324 methamphetamine tablets, banknotes and other evidence including and three-mobile phones.

The KNDF said the five detainees and the evidence were handed over to the Karenni State Police (KSP) No. (5), for further investigation.

Methamphetamine smuggling and use continues to be a major multi-billion dollar scourge in Myanmar and the Southeast Asia region.
