The generators, solar panels and batteries from a junta owned Mytel telecommunication tower owned in Northern part of Kale township, Sagaing Division were removed and taken to the local People’s Defence Force (PDF) camp to be used as raw materials for the production of weapons, according to the Kalemyo People's Defense Force (PDF).

"We transported Mytel generators, solar panels and batteries to the camp with a Faw truck. We brought them to the camp to be used as raw materials for weapons production," a Kalay PDF member told Mizzima.

The destruction of the Mytel tower was conducted by a joint force of two Kalay PDF battalions at around 7 p.m. on 17 February.

Mytel Telecom is a mobile phone network jointly owned by the Myanmar military and Vietnam’s Defense Ministry. More than 80 Mytel telecom towers across Myanmar have been destroyed by civilian resistance forces across the country since the coup in February 2021.
