Kachin State government, Minister of Immigration and Human Resources Zaw Win said that he had concerns over declining a number of voters in coming general elections as the required documents for migrant voters were complex and cumbersome in making their names included in the electoral rolls in their current constituencies.

Moreover, the resurgence of COVID-19 would affect the free voting for these voters, he added. The announcement made by UEC in this regard says those migrant voters who wish to include their names in electoral rolls must fill in Election ‘Form 3(a)’ first in submission of their applications along with recommendation letter from former constituencies confirming their names were included in electoral rolls with a serial number, recommendation letter from the local administrator of current residence, household registration and national ID.

In Kachin State, acceptance of Election Form 3 (a) started on September 17 and these forms will be accepted until October 10.
