Junta soldiers kill father of regional MP in Sinbaungwe Township

Junta forces killed the father of regional Hluttaw representative in Sinbaungwe Township, Magwe Region, as they failed to arrest the MP, Yan Aung Myo.

U Tin Ohn, the 67-year-old man, died from several gunshots as he saw about 20 soldiers heading to their farm in Thanhar village around 10 a.m. on 16 July.

“I have confirmed this incident with Pyithu Hluttaw MP for Sinbaungwe Township, and the victim died of about 15 gunshot wounds from soldiers who could not find his son,“ said Union Minister Soe Thura Tun for Electricity and Energy of the National Unity Government.

The body of U Tin Ohn was taken by the soldiers and his family got it back from the mortuary of the hospital in the afternoon.

Myanmar junta forces have reportedly targeted members of a suspect’s family or targeted individual if they are unable to arrest the person.
