Junta seal off deceased MPs house and factory

The military junta sealed off the house and plastics factory owned by a deceased National League for Democracy (NLD) member of parliament (MP), Htet Win Hlaing.

Htet Win Hlaing had been involved in the ‘Spring Revolution’ movement protesting against the junta. He died in an accident just over a year ago on 3 March 2021.

A close family friend of his said: “After Htet Win Hlaing passed away the military junta arrested his wife. She was released later. After her release, the family stayed low-profile. They had to rent [and move to] a house somewhere else.”

Nearly 30 people including: junta troops, police officers, officials from the Department of Agriculture Land Management and Statistics, local administrators, a village administrator, and some informants came to seal the deceased MP's house and plastic factory.
