Indian FM discusses Ukraine, Afghanistan and Myanmar with UN Secretary

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a wide-ranging discussion with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and exchanged views on the global impact of the Ukraine conflict as well as the situation in Afghanistan and Myanmar this week in Washington, reports the Business Standard.

Jaishankar held a wide-ranging discussion with Guterres on the global impact of the Ukraine conflict, especially on food and energy security, noting the implications for developing countries are serious.

In addition, the pair discussed the crises in Afghanistan and Myanmar.

In a joint statement, they called for a cessation of violence in Myanmar, the release of all those arbitrarily detained, and a swift return to the path of democracy and inclusive governance. They called for the urgent implementation of the ASEAN Five Point Consensus that theoretically seeks to bring a negotiated settlement and peace to the country.
