Five soldiers, one policeman killed in clash in Sagaing’s Salingyi township

At least five soldiers and a policeman were killed when two local resistance forces in Salingyi township attacked a convoy of soldiers and police on the border between Pale Township and Salingyi township on Thursday.

“When they came to Salingyi township with a Hijet truck and motorcycles, our group detonated five mines. After that, we shot at them with Tumi guns and withdrew,” Bo Naga, the leader of the Pale People's Defence Force (PPDF) in Pale Township, told Mizzima.

Bo Naga confirmed that at least five junta troops were killed in a landmine explosion and gunfire during the battle.

"Our mines most likely killed soldiers who came with motorcycles. More than five soldiers who died can be confirmed. After the battle, corpses were picked up with ambulances. We knew it according to reports from locals who are monitoring the situation,” he said.

“Bo Naga, the leader of the Pale township People's Defence Force (PDF) and his comrades from Myaing township, an ally of the Pale People's Defence Force (PDF), annihilated the mad dogs (junta forces) in Salingyi Township, which borders Pale Township. Five or more of the dogs (junta forces) have already been sent to their next existence. It is learned that the bodies have been collected by junta troops with a car,” the PPDF posted on its social media page on October 8.

Worrying that the clashes in Salingyi township will in pressure being put on the people by the Military Council, the statement said, “We feel sorry for Salingyi township.”
