Film about Myanmar urban guerrillas to be shown worldwide

The film Urban Guerrillas, directed by The Khit Nay, will be shown in various countries around the world, including Australia, Malaysia, America, Korea, Japan, Thailand, London, and Myanmar.

On February 5, the film will be screened in Sydney, Australia at the Bryan Brown Theatre & Function Centre at two showings, from 5 to 6 pm and 7 to 8 pm.

The screening is being hosted by Sydney Friends for Myanmar Unity, an official fundraising arm of the Committee Representing the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) based in Sydney.

According to the director, the film tells the story of two young urban guerrillas and was created in honour of the fallen hero Phyo Zayar Thaw and the Spring Revolution's fallen heroes. He was inspired to write the story after hearing the Military Council's announcement that they had executed four prisoners in accordance with legal procedures on 25 July 2022.

He said: ”On the evening of 25 July I wrote the storyline of Urban Guerrillas. I prepared for the film's pre-production and post-production, which takes about three and a half months.”

People can purchase tickets for the Sydney screening for $40 AUD each via the Sydney Friends for Myanmar Unity and the Urban Guerrillas’ Facebook pages.

The Khit Nay is currently living in Australia, having applied for asylum after the Myanmar junta issued a warrant for his arrest under Section 505 (a) for his participation in the Spring Revolution.
