Fighting between the MNDAA-Kokang Army and military junta’s troops has been raging near Kone Sar and Pansay villages in Kutkai township, northern Shan State since around 4 pm on January 27.

A Kutkai resident said that fighting broke out in the forest between Kone Sa and Pansay villages, and local residents were hiding in bomb-shelters.

He said, "The fight that lasted about 20 minutes, and then stopped at about 4:30 pm. The fighting restarted at around 6 pm and the sound of firing has not stopped until now."

At present, there is heavy artillery fire from the military junta troops, according to local people.
