The family of Danny Fenster, the Frontier Myanmar Journalist arrested while trying to leave the country was able to communicate with him via phone from Insein Prison according to a report by ClickonDetroit.

Fenster remains in custody of the State Administration Council (SAC). He was arrested in May and unexpectedly called his family Tuesday night. He had not been heard from since May 24.

The U.S. Consulate connected Fenster’s wife in Yangon, who put the phone on speaker and called his brother, Bryan. While the connection may not have been pristine, hearing Danny’s voice turned out to be priceless, the report said.

Mr Fenster is expected to appear in court today, the 1 July 21.
