An 11-year old girl was injured when there was shooting and explosions at the Myanmar Martial Art Training School on Union Road, in Yangon Region’s North Dagon Township at 7 p.m. on 26 April, according to local residents.

'Houses shook when the bombs exploded. There were about four or five explosions. Some people are packing their things and running away. If they run, they will be hurt even more. The girl, who was hit in the leg, was at home [nearby] when the bomb blast happened. There was a lot of bleeding. The girl is an orphan”, said a local resident.

According to a source in North Dagon Township, the resistance fighters fired five rounds of 40mm mortar shells and eight rounds of 9mm mortar shells.

'We attacked the junta troops when the three military vehicles returned from patrol. Three 40 mm grenade rounds fell on the junta troops and the other two fell a little further west. We were all able to retreat safely,' said a resistant fighter, according to a source in North Dagon.

Locals said they had not heard of any Military Council casualties resulting from the explosions. After the blast, junta troops blocked roads in the area and inspected taxi drivers, some of whom
they beat.

But, the junta troops did not seem to properly follow up the incident. There were no roadblocks or monitoring of locals and no soldiers were stationed at the training school.
