There were explosions in front of two private schools in Mandalay City that injured a man on the morning of 25 September.

At 7:15 a.m. there was an explosion in front of TEL Private School near 81 Street in Maha Aung Myay Township.

At 7:20 a.m. there was an explosion in front of Mahar Private School in Tampawati Ward, Chanmyathazi Township.

A witness said: “There was an explosion in front of TEL Private High School. We saw a boy fall down and the explosion was very loud.”

The injured person was a 21-year-old man who lives near the school. He suffered an injury to his hip, but fortunately, it was not a serious injury. A car parked in front of the school was also damaged.

No one was injured in the explosion in front of Mahar Private School, according to a police source.

They said: “It was reported that the individuals responsible for the explosions threw grenades and then fled the scene.”

According to a junta-aligned Telegram channel a man and a woman on a motorcycle threw a grenade at TEL School and three people on a motorcycle threw a grenade at Mahar School.

Currently, the junta is investigating whether private schools in Myanmar are employing staff taking part in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).

According to reports the junta closed down the Golden Gate Private School, between 80 and 81 Streets in Maha Aung Myay Township, in Mandalay City on 16 August. Apparently, the owner of the school and six teachers were arrested for employing staff taking part in the CDM movement
