Drugs found on four militia members in Kachin's Waingmaw Township

A combined defence force of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and PDFs detained four Lisu local militia members when they discovered drugs in the men's car in Kachin State's Waingmaw Township on 24 August.

When the defence forces stopped the men's Prado car on the Sadung to Hsenglaw to Manwing Road near to Sanikhu village they were found to be in possession of illicit drugs and a pistol.

The four detainees were named by people close to the KIA battalion as Yahewan, age 52, Ngwartar, age 45, Tachaio, age 18, and Larsi, age 21.

An official from the KIA said that they were interrogating the detainees and preparing to take legal action against them.

Mizzima was unable to confirm before publication the type and quantity of the drugs and the make of the pistol that were seized.
