Chin National Organization vows to take action against Myanmar junta supporters

The Chin National Organization (CNO) warned during their first conference that they would target those who continue to serve the Myanmar Military Council, according to a statement released on 27 April.

The CNO congress was took place at its headquarters in Chinram, Camp Rihli from 20 to 23 April.

A total of 119 delegations and 80 observers, including representatives of the Chin National Defense Force (CNDF) attended the meeting.

Cung Ngai, a spokesman for the CNO and CNDF told Mizzima that attendees of the meeting discussed security and a federal future for Myanmar, noting the conference was a “milestone” for the Chin Nation.

The Constitution, By Laws, Terms of references (TOR) and the policies of CNO were also discussed and approved during the CNO conference.

The policies and plans are being implemented to accelerate of the overthrow of the military dictatorship and public administrations, moves that are needed to bring in federal democracy in the CNO-CNDF controlled areas as soon as possible.

According to the congress, they will jointly cooperate with Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) members who are playing an important role in the Spring Revolution in order to strengthen the Chin National Defense Force (CDNF) for the security and defense in Chin State and to carry out missions in cooperation with Chinland Joint Defense force (CJDC), which is organized in the regions and townships.

The CNDF is reportedly short of weapons, in part because the number of fighters has doubled in a year.

The groups are aware of the need to fund the education and health sectors in their state.

Chin State has been wracked by conflict over the last year. The CNO estimates there were 58 clashes that killed 400 military junta troops and 18 CNDF fighters in Chin State.
