Bombings in Myanmar’s Hlegu township on the one-year anniversary of the coup

Five bombs exploded in Hlegu Township, Yangon Division this morning, February 1, according to a local resident.

Bombings took place in front of Hlegu’s Aung Mingalar Ward Administration Office, near Hlegu Township Football Stadium, in the Hlegu township Electricity office compound, near Hlegu Hospital and in front of Hlegu Myoma Market.

The bomb exploded in front of the Aung Mingalar ward office, Hlegu township at around 6.45 am on February 1, according to locals.

An eye witness said a black parcel was found with the words “Hold it, if you are brave". It exploded, shaking nearby houses.

The bombs exploded in the Hlegu township Electricity office compound at around 8.00 am, and near the Hlegu Township football stadium at around 8:30 am.

Junta soldiers fired two gunshots after the two bombs exploded.

Another bomb exploded near Hlegu Township Hospital at around 8.40 am, locals confirmed.

Moreover, a parcel bomb exploded near a lottery shop in front of Hlegu Myoma Market at around 9:40 am.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts. It is unclear whether there were casualties.
