Bomb explosion at Mandalay KBZ bank branch

A branch of the Kanbawza Bank (KBZ) in Mandalay was bombed at about 1.30pm on 27 April, according to someone who lives close to the bank.

The bombed KBZ Industrial (1) Branch is between 133 rd and 134 th streets on 62 nd Street in Mandalay’s Pyigyidagun Township.

''Two motorcyclists threw a bomb at the KBZ bank Industrial (1) branch. People’s hearing may have been damaged. An ambulance’s siren was heard shortly after the bombing”, said a local.

The Yadanabon Phoenix Guerilla Force (YPGF) said that they had carried out the attack in a joint operation with Dragon Warrior Mandalay guerilla group.

There have been at least five bombings of KBZ bank branches in Mandalay. KBZ bank has been targeted because it is owned by the military crony Aung Ko Win and is used by the military.
