Ayeyawady govt officials in quarantine after regional minister tests positive for COVID-19

Kyaw Myint, Ayeyawady Region Minister for Development Affairs, reportedly contracted COVID-19 while working for election-related financial matters in Labutta.

He attended the regional government’s meeting on 4 December, so other regional government officials who attended the meeting received COVID-19 swab tests. They must also take five-day home quarantine.

Kyaw Myint won the election held on 8 November for the Lower House seat in Labutta Township.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports on 9 December, there were 3,511 COVID-19 cases in Ayeyawady Region.
