The Pyan Hlwar Aung or “Victorious Swallow” was a seven-month offensive in Yangon that was launched on 7 September after the National Unity Government (NUG) government declared war on the junta.

During those operations, 235 people, including Than Than Swe, a vice-president of the Myanmar Central Bank who was appointed by the military council, were killed and nearly 300 people working for the Military Council were injured.

Than Than Swe was the highest-ranking official to be killed in the Pyan Hlwar Aung offensive. According to the Yangon PDF her shooting on 7 April was the last action of the Pyan Hlwar Aung offensive.

The Yangon PDF Central Command also used the statement to announce a new offensive saying: “In order to root out the military dictatorships, a new military operation strategy has begun for the unfinished revolution.”

An Information and psychological warfare officer from Yangon PDF said: “Currently, we do not know what new military operations we will carry out. The public will find out later. The military junta has a lot of work to do to protect their staff and keep them safe. They will surely be shocked by this statement we have issued. We are going to take more serious action against them.
