According to eyewitnesses, a ward administrator was shot dead in Gapu Kwe Market, Thingangyun Township, Yangon Region at around 7 am on June 29.

The dead man was identified as Sein Hlaing Win (a.k.a) Kyar Gyi, a member of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), who is living in Nawarat Road, Nga Ka Ward. He is reportedly a fishmonger in the Gafu Kwe Market.

A neighbour told Mizzima, "He was the Ward/village chairman of the USDA. It is rumoured that he was involved in a group that arrested the protesters. Their whole family was selling fish. The whole family, as usual, go to rallies to support the Tatmadaw.”

He added, “He was shot and killed on the spot. Suddenly, no one was sure what happened,"
