A local resident confirmed to Mizzima that Tin Aung, an administrator appointed by the military junta in Kyon Tu village, Khayan township Yangon region was shot dead on September 12.

Tin Aung was shot twice in his house and died on the way to the hospital, according to locals.

A member of the Khayan People Defense Force (PDF) told Mizzima that the death of Tin Aung was their handiwork.

"He has been on the list for a long time. We were going to take action against him step by step because his name has already been on the notorious list in the village,” said a member of the Khayan People Defense Force.

Kyontu village is located west of Khayan town and about five miles from Khayan town.
