172 people including monks and people infected at Monastery

155 monks and 17 people from the Kabaraye Tipitaka Maha Gandha Yone Monastery, Mayangone Township of Yangon, are being treated for COVID-19 said Yangon Regional Minister Moe Moe Suu Kyi of the Immigration and Human Resources Ministry.

At present, restrictions on entry and exit of people are being enforced at the Monastery. More than 100 people including monks and people who were not found with Covid-19 are being currently monitored.

A driver at the monastery died in recent days, and three monks who were sick were suspected of being infected and tested positive, said Mayangone Township Administrator Tun Chit. The dead driver tested negative for Covid-19.

There are about 10 dormitories at the Monastery, and 172 people including monks and individuals who are infected are still in good health. The abbot of the monastery is not infected.
