17 people accused of links to the Kachin Independence Army, released

17 people arrested on charges of links with the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) had their cases dismissed by the military council and released from Myitkyina Prison on October 15.

Of those released from prison, two are from Myitkyina Township; Six from Waingmaw Township; Seven from Hpakant Township; One from Tanai Township and one from Mogaung Township.

Among those whom the military council will close the cases were 23 from the Kachin Independence Army (KIA); One from the Karen Peace Council (KNU / KNLA (PC)); One from the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA); Five from the Shan State Reconstruction Party / Shan State Army (SSPP / SSA) and 11 from the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).
