13-year-old killed when junta fired artillery into Demoso IDP camp in Karenni State

A 13-year-old girl was killed on the spot and four others were injured when the junta fired artillery into an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Demoso Township in Karenni State on 31 July.

One of the four injured people is in a critical condition and receiving emergency medical treatment for a head injury. The other three are are also receiving medical treatment, but are in a non-critical
condition, according to Demoso People's Defence force (PDF).

The junta's Ngwe Taung Battalion (102) and the Hpruso-based Battalion (128) opened fire with artillery at around 5:00 p.m. on 31 July. They fired at least 10 rounds into the Demoso IDP camp.

According to the Demoso-PDF Information Collection Group this is the seventh time they have fired artillery into IDP camps in Karenni State.
