Women’s League of Burma wins 2021 Judith Lee Stronach Award for justice efforts

The Women’s League for Burma (WLB) has won the 2021 2021 Judith Lee Stronach Award.

The Judith Lee Stronach Award honors individuals and organizations that have made an outstanding contribution to the movement for global justice.

As the organization says: This year, it is our privilege to present this award to the Women’s League of Burma (WLB). This award recognizes the women and thirteen member organizations that make up WLB, and their leadership in advancing human rights for women of all ethnic and religious identities in Burma.

Over the past two years, CJA has partnered with WLB in its efforts to advocate for stronger legal protections for women across Burma. In the aftermath of February’s coup, they have continued to advocate for the protection of women and a return to civilian rule, illustrating WLB’s critical role in preserving human rights and democratic values in Myanmar.
