The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG officially announced that Acting President Duwa Lashi La will deliver a new-year speech at 7:00 pm on Friday.
  • Under the guidance of the Karenni State Consultation Council and the NUG, the Karenni Police Force in operation invited the public to report crimes. According to their announcement, they managed to arrest junta criminals carrying out violence in their state.
  • The NUG announced that their Ministry of Defence would send monthly donation of PRF Members directly to nationwide PDFs via THE OFP Official Fundraiser and that they would fulfill only essential requirements for success of the revolution.
  • Ministry of Health-NUG announced that the money earned from the sale of raffle tickets would go to health care services for the IDPs, emergency health care for the injured in battles, health necessities including COVID-19 and requirements for the downfall of the military dictatorship.

Revolution Activities

  • As a 326-day protest, Kalay people in Sagaing Region marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In the east of Ayadaw Township, a troop of about 50 junta soldiers on foot was attacked with mines by local PDF near Donsit Village on Wednesday night. Reportedly, 12 junta soldiers died and no less than 20 others were injured.
  • In Ayadaw Township, there was a protest against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, PDF members in jungle conducted a burning strike against the military dictation on Thursday.
  • In Pinlebu Township, local PDF raided illegal logging businesses on Pinlebu-Phaungbyin road-side on 25th and 26th December. Reportedly, they also confiscated teak and tree-cutting saws as public property.
  • In Yinmabin Township, there was a farm protest against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, local people carried out a dawn march against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • On Thursday morning, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East protested against the military dictatorship, holding anti-junta posters.
  • Reportedly, local PDF announced that the public were not to use Chaung U – Amyint road starting from Thursday morning.
  • On Friday, Rakhine National Party would organize a poem-reciting event in memory of THE 237th anniversary of the Rakhine sovereignty downfall.
  • In Chin State, the junta armed forces set fire to Tantalin at about 10:00 am Thursday. According to local sources, at least 55 houses were burnt down.
  • According to military sources, there were complaints within the junta army (340) in Bago Region as their commander Aung Bo Bo Hein and his wife were carrying out oppression and illegal business within the force.
  • According to local PDFs, the junta armed forces were attacked in Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, Pale Township and Monywa Township in Sagaing Region on Wednesday. Reportedly, no less than 9 junta soldiers died.
  • In Magwe Township, there was a time-mine attack at an electricity office at about 4:30 am Thursday.
  • With the abuse of the name of Mekong news agency, pro-military groups have been spreading false news on social media on purpose.
  • Ko Min Thwe Thit, a leader of Burmese Students’ Union Central who got arrested the earliest after the military coup, was sentenced to a year in prison with the charge under the traffic law.
  • According to lawyers, Ko Waiyan Phyo Moe, deputy-chair of Burmese Students’ Union Central, received broken ribs and a face and neck injury due to violent beating in prison. Reportedly, he was badly in need of emergency medical treatment.
  • According to court sources, actors Lumin and Yetike were each sentenced to 3 years in prison.
  • According to Kachin National Congress Party, their chairman in detention by the military junta would be investigated at court at 10:30 am Thursday.
  • In Matupi Township of Chin State, junta soldiers on foot stepped on mines near MPT telecom tower between district administration office and Ngalai Village. According to local CDF, 9 junta soldiers, including officers, were injured.
  • In Matupi Township, locally-based junta army regiment (140) shot mortars towards Ngalai Village and therefore local residents had to run away.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • KNU Chair said that despite their effort, including a lot of time and money, aimed to bring peace, it all ended up in vain due to the military coup.
  • According to KNU, it was just a lie of the military junta on MRTV in which they announced that they managed to control Laykaykaw area whereas KNU and PDFs had run away in chaos.
  • According to KNDF)/B-02, they had been able to nurture outstanding new comrades, who were skillful at shooting at their special training.
  • In Kachin State, a combined force of KIA and PDF carried out a guerrilla attack on a military car leaving Sunbrapon for Putao at about 12:00 pm Wednesday.
  • In the south of Kalay Township in Sagaing Region, there was fighting between the junta armed forces and a combined force of local PDFs. According to CNO, 15 junta soldiers died.
  • Reportedly, battles resumed in Laykaykaw and 7 junta soldiers, including officers, were caught alive together with their weapons and car. In Kawkarait fighting, 3 junta soldiers died and 5 others were injured.
  • In Kayin State, the junta border guard force came to the IDPs of Halu village group on the Thaungyin river bank, who had to run away due to Laykaykaw battles, and told them to return home.

The Military Council

  • The junta newspaper said that the CDF had arrested family members of the army in Titain Township of Chin State on Tuesday night.
  • According to the junta newspaper, Daw Jandaw and Daw Khin Swe Myint had been killed by PDF in Daunggyi Village of Tantsi Township in Sagaing Region on 15th December. Their money and jewels were found with the help of the junta armed forces and handed back to their family members with an event at the meeting hall of Ministry of Planning and Finance on Thursday morning.
  • To show off to the international community, the military junta have been calling back the IDPs, who had to run away due to their terrorist acts in Laykaykaw to return home.
  • On Saturday, there would be performance of Ha Style Crew on MRTV HD Channel after 8:00 pm news.
  • The military junta have been threatening staff members of ministries that in addition to electricity blackout, legal action would be taken against their lack of electricity bill payment.
  • In Taunggyi, capital city of Shan State, the military junta have been preparing for the celebration of Independence Day at Awayya Konethaya hot-air-balloon ground.

Summary on 30th December

  • Regarding the junta propaganda that the military junta had been able to control Laykaykaw, the KNU responded that it was full of lies. In the fighting there on Thursday afternoon, KNU caught junta soldiers and showed those photos in the media.
  • The military have been using the system of such lies for generations. On the other hand, pro-military extreme nationalists have been constantly spreading false news under the pretense of media coverage.
  • As for Chin, Kayah and Sagaing, they had battles against the junta armed forces.
  • In Yangon, Mandalay, Magwe, Dawei and Ayeyarwaddy, there were protests and revolution activities. On the other hand, there were arrests and murders by the military junta.
