The National Unity Government (NUG)

 

  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG said that even amidst insufficient financial and human resources in the revolution, they managed to reach the current stage and it was necessary to double efforts. He also added that it was necessary for ministries to overcome challenges.
  • On Thursday, members of Myanmar Federal Democratic Mission Coalition - MFDMC donated 500 lakh MMK to the Southern Regional PDF Headquarters.
  • Union Prime Minister said that the NUG must try their best for the Spring Revolution in 2023 and thus, they must promote their cooperation with partner organizations in various sectors.

Revolution Activities

  • In Mayangone Township of Yangon Region, there was a bomb attack at the court on Friday afternoon.
  • On Pyi Road, youth placed anti-junta banners on the bridge in front of Marlar Domitory on Friday morning.
  • In Tontay, local PDF conducted an attack with M16 rifles on the junta armed forces stationed with the fire brigade at 4:10 am Thursday.
  • On Friday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement.
  • On Friday, a rally of anti-junta monks from Insu conducted a movement against the military dictatorship.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, a military officer Tun Lin Aung was shot dead by PDF as he tried to fight back while he was being arrested.
  • In Yelegyun Area of Yesagyo Township, an alliance of PDFs attacked the junta army at close range in Min Village at 5:30 am Wednesday. Reportedly, 21 junta soldiers including an officer died.
  • At 6:30 am Friday, there was gunfire at No. (5) garment factory under the junta Ministry of Industry. Reportedly, junta army officer Aung Zaw Oo (chief officer of the factory) and his wife died.
  • On Friday, Kalay General Strike protested against the military dictatorship.
  • As a 533-day protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Friday morning.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, a rally of Lonekhine Group marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship, raising a banner ‘Let’s take up whatever weapons available to uproot the common enemy’.
  • Saw John, a soldier from the junta army based in Tainmyoat Village of Oatpho Township, said that he had joined the CDM to fight back against the junta army giving trouble to the public.
  • In Dawei Township of Taninthayi Region, a large number of the junta armed forces invaded the area on Dawei-Tikhi road section on Friday morning.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Fruso Township of Karenni State, there were battles between junta armed forces and an alliance of PDFs in Ngwetaung Village for two consecutive days. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers died.
  • In Pekone Township, Mobye PDF attacked the junta army on secret patrol by snipers. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers were injured.

The Military Council

  • Via posters, the junta armed forces warned the public just to use the overpass at the traffic lights on the crossroads of Sule Pagoda Road and Anawratta Road in Yangon.
  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed their strong objection to the responses of some countries and some organizations (including the United Nations) with regard to the incidents in Rakhine State in 2017.
  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Chiang Mai College had not signed an agreement with Spring College Myanmar (SUM).
  • The junta Central Bank of Myanmar announced that the names of dollar buyers must be sent to them at 5:00 pm every day.
  • The junta Ministry of Science and Technology announced that a new technological university would be opened in Nay Pyi Taw.
  • The second junta leader Soe Win left for Russia on Thursday.

Summary on 26 August

  • The junta Central Bank no longer sells importers the USD as needed. Moreover, they announced on Thursday that exporters must inform them about the transaction of USD from their export income. Due to such notification, the price of the USD was predicted to increase more than now.
  • In Sagaing and Magwe regions, there were heavy battles. As for the junta armed forces, they had a great loss including officers. Via TikTok with most users among junta people, it can be seen that there have been funerals of members of the junta armed forces on a daily basis.
