The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In Sagaing Region, Kantbalu Township the public administration stated that it would collect taxes from local business people in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the NUG Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment.
  • At 2:00 pm on Sunday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and the Interim Chin National Consultative Council.
  • In Myaung Township in Sagaing Region, the local public administration team provided support to the injured and family members of those who had lost their lives due to the junta’s mortar attack on a local village.
  • At 10:00 am on Sunday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and people’s administrative teams from Tanintharyi Region and Ayeyarwady Region.
  • According to the Spring University, all of their courses can be paid for with NUG Pay.
  • A policy paper on the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) by the National Unity Consultative Council on Friday stated that all the local exams held during the tenure of the military junta would be regarded as illegitimate.

Revolutionary Activities

  • The Pope expressed his concern about Christian churches being burnt in Myanmar. He also called for a quick end to such cases.
  • Bago PDF announced that it had shot dead Than Htut and Myint Aung, a junta army officer and sergeant from Yangon Regional Interrogation, and confiscated their weapons.
  • In Myaung Township, Myinmu Township and Chaung-U Township, a rally of local people and Youths for Community- Myaung led a march against the military dictatorship.
  • In Pale Township in Sagaing Region, a combined force of PDFs attacked the Pyu Saw Htee camp in Zee Phyu Gon Village. Reportedly, four Pyu Saw Htee members died.
  • Somewhere in Monywa, a combined rally of young people marched against the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • In Khin-U Township, a combined rally of the local public administration, local defence forces, tpeople in education and local people protested against the junta’s superficial election on Monday. They also chanted slogans in support of the NUG and federal democracy.
  • In Taze Township, the General Strike Committee marched on Monday for the end of the military dictatorship, raising anti-junta banners.
  • In Kathar Township in Kachin State, the junta army set fire to all of Tightgoneyat Village in Moetarle Village Tract on Monday morning.
  • At a local market in Salingyi Township, Anyar Pyit Tie Taung gave out brochures by the General Strike Coordination Body criticising the junta’s election.
  • In Yinmabin North, a combined rally of local villages marched on Monday for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • On the New Year’s holidays in South Korea, Daegu Sayardaw organized a fund-raising tour to the snow-capped mountain themed ‘Our Revolution’. They also conducted protests against Myanmar’s military dictatorship.
  • In Matupi Township in Chin State, the junta army raided Ngalai Village and killed six people. Among the dead, only two of them could be identified.
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, a large number of the junta armed forces have been invading and combing local areas since the last week of December 2022.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, there was a march on Monday for the KIA, PDF and NUG. They also protested against the military dictatorship.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • According to Thai Freedom Media, the peace delegation led by Chairman General Yawd Serk of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) will soon go to Naypyitaw after having been invited by the military junta to discuss the peace process and the solutions to the current political crisis.
  • According to CDF Matupi and the local public administration, the junta army burnt and destroyed houses and churches in Ngalai Village. They also took away people’s belongings.

The Military Council

  • Starting from Monday, the military junta has indefinitely closed the Dawei to Htiki Road in Tanintharyi Region.
  • In Ngaputaw Township in Ayeyarwady Region, the pagoda festival of Mawtinsun Stupa will be held from 19 February to 5 March.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Electricity and Energy, a doubled powerline of 132KV was blown up in Loikaw Township in Kayah State.
  • The junta propaganda media falsely claimed that PDFs had burnt 15 houses in Hsin- Ima Village in Kalaywa Township in Sagaing Region.
  • The junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce announced that Saudi Arabia has invited Myanmar business people to their fishery product exhibition.

Summary on 24 January

  • Junta armed forces have been invading Sagaing Township. Consequently, thousands of local people have had to run away. As the junta soldiers tend to set fire to local villages and ruthlessly kill local people along the way, local villages are at risk of violence. In other words, the war flames of war have even been approaching the area of Mandalay City.
  • In the areas under their influence, the NUG has been gradually building up local administrations. In some regions, they have been able to collect taxes and even work for local development.
