The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to the right to self-defence, the public have been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. The NUG announced that up to 58 members of the junta armed forces had died and 18 others had been injured on Friday.
  • Union Minister of Labour-NUG sent a statement on the occasion of International Migrants’ Day, which fell on Saturday.
  • U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights-NUG, compared the humane treatment of KNU towards prisoners of war with that of the military junta, who had ill-treated even civilians.
  • On Saturday evening, Dr. Sasa, Union Minister of International Cooperation-NUG and Special Envoy of CRPH to the UN, had an online discussion with Myanmar groups in Norway about diplomatic progress of the government, international relations including that of neighbouring countries, current political and military confrontations, and action at the ICJ.

Revolution Activities

  • In Chaung-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army was attacked with mines by two local PDFs between Ngashan and Natyaykan villages on Friday as they left Sagaing for Monywa. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died and 2 others were injured.
  • As a 314-day protest, Kalay people in blue marched on Saturday for their comrades in detention and against the military dictatorship.
  • In Yinmabin Township, Shwe Nwe Thwe rally marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • As a 283-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, there was a protest against the military dictatorship on Saturday morning.
  • In Wuntho Township, an informer to the junta had been killed in Kin Village. The junta police were attacked with mines on their way back after investigating the case. Reportedly, a police officer died and 5 others were injured.
  • In Kantbalu Township, a military car was attacked with mines by a local guerrilla force near Wabochaung Bridge at about 3:00 pm Friday. According to Kanbalu Underground Warriors, 3 junta soldiers were injured.
  • After local PDFs conducted attacks on the junta vessels carrying jade along Chindwin River, the convoy made their move under protection of junta soldiers on foot
  • In South Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, youth carried out an anti-junta movement at Tan-Thone-Bin Lake on Saturday, hanging a banner - ‘We will wash our feet with fascist blood’.
  • In Pha-Kant Township of Kachin State, a powerful rally of local people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday. They also showed their support for KIA, PDF, NUG and NUCC.
  • At about 5:00 pm Friday, 3 mortars shot by the junta army fell in the border area of Thailand near Thaungyin river bank. As an IDP from Myanmar was seriously injured, the Thai Army fire warning shots.
  • In Pulaw Township of Taninthayi Region, there were exchanges of fire between Pyusawti and a local PDF in Kyaungnaint Village on Saturday morning.
  • In Hleku Township, 10 residents of Sabudaung Village were arrested by the junta army. Reportedly, they have been out of touch so far.
  • In Kawmu Township, U Kyaw Soe, junta-appointed administrator of Natyedwin Gone Village, had been injured due to the gunshots of junta soldiers on patrol on 11th December. Reportedly, he died on Friday while receiving medical treatment at a military hospital.
  • On Saturday morning, there was an attack on the fire brigade in Kawhmu Township. After the incident, 6 staff members were arrested by the military junta.
  • In Thanlyin Township, the junta army raided a camp of local PDF near Lahar area at about 9:00 am Friday.
  • As the news came out that the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing would come to an umbrella-hoisting ceremony of Kyaikdewi Pagoda in Hleku Township, there were tight security measures along the road and in town on Saturday.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, the junta army was attacked near Oatpho Village at about 3:00 pm Friday. According to local PDF, 7 junta soldiers died.
  • In Kyauktu Township, U Maung Man, a Chin-ethnic man taking refuge at Hlawwa Village, was shot in the head by the junta army on Thursday afternoon as he was going back home to collect his motorbike.
  • In Kyonebyaw Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, local PDFs blew up a MyTel telecom tower in Jonejoneja Village at about 3:00 am Saturday.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, a woman was shot dead at her house in Alesu Village on Friday night.
  • In Mindat Township of Chin State, the junta army had been conducting military operation towards Wammathu Village. Consequently, local residents of near-by villages had to run away.
  • Among 4 lawsuits against Section (55) of the anti-corruption law, investigation got started for 3 charges against 5 ministers, including U Nyi Bu, Rakhine State Chief Minister.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • On Friday, AA announced that they would take responsibility for the security of Rakhine people as there were special cases and ethnic affairs constantly in some townships of Rakhine State in December.
  • In Kayin State, there have been battles due to the raid of the junta army to Laykaykaw starting from 15th December. The junta armed forces were strengthened and they conducted invasive attacks. Reportedly, battles resumed in some parts of Myawaddy Township, including Laykaykaw, on Saturday.
  • On Saturday morning, junta soldiers were attacked by a combined force of KNLA, KNDO and PDF as they were on their way to fetch water from Laykaykaw mortar hill. Reportedly, one junta soldier died and another one was injured.
  • On Friday, second captain Moe Zet from Karenni Army lost his life in the fighting against the junta army near Loilinle. His funeral, attended by his comrades, took place on Saturday.
  • According to KNU, a combined force of KNLA and PDF conducted an invasive attack at the junta BGF camp in Kyathaungseit Village starting from 6:00 am Friday. Reportedly, they managed to take control of it at about 9:30 pm.
  • In Paletwa Township of Chin State, a local CDF announced that they would take serious action against the armed group who had killed 6 civilians in a village.

The Military Council

  • On Friday, some ministers of the military junta came for taking back Rohingya people who were taking refuge in Bangladesh.
  • According to the junta newspaper, activities would be carried out for no more than 50,000 tons of imported cooking oil.
  • According to local residents, a convoy of 14 military trucks, including 2 armoured vehicles, left Pha-Ang in Kayin State and they might head towards Beelin, Laykaykaw and Myawaddy.
  • According to the junta media, PDF set fire to an oil storage area In Pauk Township of Magwe Region at 10:10 pm Thursday. Reportedly, security forces and responsible personnel had to put out the fire until 11:30 am Friday.
  • According to the junta newspaper, there were exchanges of fire in Hnanka Village of Gantgaw Township during the arrest for 100 PDF members, who ran away afterwards.
  • The junta ministry of foreign affairs announced their objection to the adoption of a proposal themed - ‘Human Rights Situation of Rohingya and other minorities in Myanmar’ at the 3rd committee of the UN General Assembly.

Summary on 18th December

  • AA announced that they would take responsibility for security of Rakhine as there were frequent cases targeting ethnic affairs. Coincidentally, members of the military junta went to Rohingya camps. It should be cautioned that the military junta could destroy the revolution with ethnic and religious conflicts.
  • In Kayin, there were battles all across the state. The junta armed forces were strengthened and mobilized. Consequently, there might be heavy battles in the area.
  • Like Kayin, Chin had battles due to the invasion of the junta army. As for Sagaing, they had guerrilla warfare and public protests against the military dictatorship.
  • Amidst arrests, there were activities of guerrilla revolution in Yangon on a daily basis. The same was true for Magwe, Dawei and Ayeyarwaddy.
