Spring Revolution Daily News for 14 October 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • At 10:00 am Thursday, the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration conducted their a (41/2023). 
  • At 3:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting (33/2023) between Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and District People’s Administration. 
  • In Kantbalu Township of Sagaing Region, 6 family members including a child aged 9 had been killed in their house in Chaungshay Apaing Village. Reportedly, the local people’s administration and local people’s security force came to inspect the scene. 
  • According to Ministry of Defence-NUG, there was a 4-hour meeting with the Acting President of the NUG, other heads of the State and the members of the revolution forces on 10 October. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Malaysia, there are cases in which a person under the guise of being a member of the UNHCR staff has been swindling Chin ethnic refugees. 
  • Regarding the junta’s air attack on the IDP camp in Mone Lai Khat Village of Kachin State, Daw Moe Moe Thu, a CDM teacher, wrote a comment on social media. Reportedly, she was arrested by the junta army at her house in Amarapura Township of Mandalay Region at about 5:00 pm Thursday. 
  • For resettlement of the IDP Camp in Mone Lai Khat Village near Laiza, the Way Musical Film donated a million MMK. 
  • According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the number of internally displaced people has reached up to nearly two million in Myanmar and nearly 1.7 million of them have had to leave their home due to the conflicts and lack of stability following the military coup in 2021. 
  • In Myaung Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army raided Kaungkwe Village at about 5:00 pm Thursday. Consequently, nearly 20 houses were burnt down and 4 cows were killed. 
  • In Thegone Township of Bago Region, U Soe Aung, a former MP of Union Solidarity and Development Party in 2010, was shot dead near the local market downtown at about 6:30 am Thursday. 
  • In Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region, there was an attack via 107mm grenades on the junta’s factory of Myanmar Beer. Reportedly, it was greatly damaged. 
  • On Thursday, the strike committees called for serious action against the cases of sexual violence and harassment in the Spring Revolution. 
  • In Htigyaint Township of Sagaing Region, there has been heavy fighting near Pyinsu Village since Friday morning. At about 12:00 pm, the junta army conducted a bomb attack using two fighter jets. 
  • In Pale, Salingyi and Yinmabin townships, Union Liberation Front warned the public in case of aerial attacks by the junta army in the area. 
  • In Myaung Township, a local PDF attacked the junta army which had burnt Kaungkwe Village. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • In Kayin State, a combined force of Dawna Column and Karen National Liberation Army conducted an attack via sniper and 40mm grenades on the junta army demanding money on Myawady-Kawkarait Asia Road. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died. 
  • In an exclusive interview with Mizzima, the spokesperson of Karen National Union claimed that the military junta with frequent substitutes was like a losing football team. 
  • In Thanglang of Chin State, there was a heavy battle between the junta army and local CDFs on Thursday. Reportedly, both sides lost members. 
  • Karen National Union, Chin National Front and All Burma Students' Democratic Front declared that the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) had no longer been valid since the military coup in 2021. 
  • On 10 October, Chin National Organization announced that the people in the areas under their control were to celebrate their new year just with prayer events, not with funfairs. 
  • In Moegoke Township of Mandalay Region, there were two battles between the junta army and Ta’ang National Liberation Army on Thursday. 
  • In Moemauk Township of Kachin State, Kachin Independence Army attacked a junta convoy on the way to Lwejell. 
  • In Thanglang, a member of the Chin National Army lost his life and so did a member of the local CDF in a battle against the junta army. 

The Military Council 

  • In some townships of Yangon Region, the ward administrators have prohibited prayer events at houses and churches. 
  • Reportedly, former Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen and Mr. Sasakawa, the representative of Japanese Government, agreed to go to Myanmar together soon. 
  • In Meiktila of Mandalay Region, the military junta ordered the closure of Myitta Aye Clinic. 
  • In South Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, there was a surprise check into DOMINO Club. 
  • Mr. Mr Nikolay Shulginov, the Russian Minister of Energy, stated that they were ready to cooperate with Myanmar in petro-chemical enterprises. 
  • Myanmar and the Rosatom owned by Russia signed a memorandum of understanding for nuclear infrastructure. 
  • The second junta leader Soe Win stated that they had been negotiating with China again for the terms and conditions to resume the Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone in Rakhine State. 

Summary on 14 October 

  • Since the military coup, there has been constant oppression of religions. It might create religious conflicts. 
  • In place of the contract by the civilian government related to the Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone intended for public interest, the junta leaders have been negotiating with China again to make a new one for their own self-interest.
