The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Karenni National Defence Day, the Ministry of Human Rights-NUG stated that together with all Karenni nationals fighting for their inherent human rights, they would go towards forming a nation of federal democracy based on equality.
  • The NUG sent a statement that they would join hands with Karenni national defence forces for the federal democracy union and the victory of Karenni nationals.
  • In the event commemorating the 34th anniversary of the 8888 Uprising, Acting President of the NUG called for best efforts to uproot the military dictatorship.
  • Deputy Minister of Human Rights-NUG said that their international offices were to bring justice for those who have been unlawfully killed by the military junta.
  • On Monday, Saw Township Public Administration announced that local people were not to do commercial gathering of bamboo shoots in their area of Magwe Region.

Revolution Activities

  • In Monywa of Sagaing Region, a local PDF attacked the junta army in charge of security at Myawaddy Bank at about 5:10 am Tuesday. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.
  • In Chaung-U Township, a military convoy was attacked with mines by a local PDF. Reportedly, 12 members of the junta armed forces died.
  • In the north of Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of three local villages marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Dibeyin Township, the junta army set fire to Mukangyi Village with about 4000 houses starting from 9:00 am Tuesday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, protest leaders gave anti-junta talks to the public on the 34th anniversary of the 8888 Uprising.
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta army set fire to Yelehmaw Village without any battle.
  • As a 516-day protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Monywa Township, the junta army forced 2 PDF members in their detention to guide them to their PDF camp. Reportedly, those PDF members and another person lost their lives in the raid.
  • As a 548-day protest, Kalay General Strike protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Mandalay Region, Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw led a march against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Berlin, Germany, Myanmar people and some Germans expressed their objection to the junta army led by Min Aung Hlaing.
  • In Times Square in New York and the Eifel Tower in Paris, there were movements in support of the Yangon Umbrella Strike against the military dictatorship on the anniversary of the 8888 Uprising.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Kawthulay Area under the control of the Karen National Union-KNU, there were 259 battles between the junta army + BGF and KNLA + KNDO in July. Reportedly, 386 junta soldiers died and 276 others were injured.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, there was heavy fighting near Sezin Village starting from Tuesday noon. Reportedly, the junta army used fighter jets.
  • At about 1:00 am Monday, a combined force of KIA took control of the junta army camp in Sezin Village. Reportedly, they rescued 18 detained villagers out of the camp.

The Military Council

  • Reportedly, the military junta will provide loans for partner farming and prawn breeding.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the production of rainy and summer rice must exceed over 75 million baskets.
  • At 7:30 am Monday, there was a flag-hoisting ceremony in honour of the establishment of the ASEAN in Hanoi of Vietnam. Reportedly, it was joined by U Kyaw Soe Win, the junta Myanmar Ambassador to Vietnam.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the import of oil and petroleum must be reduced and local production in some areas must be systematically carried out.
  • In Hinthada Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, the military junta sealed off over 30 houses including those of NLD MPs from January to the first week of August.
  • The junta leader said that they would nurture those who could do agriculture and livestock based on their education level.
  • At the time of international businesses leaving the country, the junta leader said that they had been inviting investments for economic growth.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing blamed the 2020 General Election for the current situation of the country.
  • The junta leader instructed that the import of oil and petroleum worth over 1 billion USD must be reduced. Consequently, there might be the crisis of fuel oil in the country and some fuel businesses warned the public to prepare for it.
  • In a police car accident in Nay Pyi Taw on 4 August, Dr. Htar Htar Linn, the Director of Public Health Department who had been unlawfully arrested by the military junta, broke her shoulder bone.

Summary on 9 August

  • After the coup led by Min Aung Hlaing, the country has been under a devastating situation. The upcountry areas and other rice producing ones were completely destroyed. After that, the military junta called for more production of rice.
  • The junta leader said that the import of fuel oil would be reduced and it would be produced locally. The junta themselves would know if they were losing track of the real situation or they were just ignoring it. Including fuel oil, the cost of living might go up, posing hardships to the general public.
  • After more than a year of revolution, the public from all over the country are still fighting against the junta army in various ways.
