Six witnesses from Rose Party Chairman Kyaw Myint case examined

Chanmyathazi Township Court, Mandalay, examined six witnesses from both parties in the case of former United Democratic Party (UDP) Chairman Kyaw Myint on October 26, who is charged under section 224 of Penal Code (escaped convict) and section 13(1) of Immigration Act (illegal entry).

Kyaw Myint had escaped from Mandalay General Hospital in January 1999 while serving his 9-year prison sentence in Obo prison, Mandalay city.

Union Election Commission (UEC) deregistered Rose Party or UDP party as per section 12(b) of Political Parties Registration Law and dissolved UDP as per paragraph 27 of Rule of Political Parties Registration Law in an announcement made on October 17.
