NUG and EAOs establish three regional military commands in Myanmar

The National Unity Government (NUG) in exile and ethnic armed organisations (EAOs) have established three military regional commands, Northern, Central and Southern commands and they have said the NUG Minister of Defence, U Yee Mon.

He made the comments in a speech he made to people’s defence force (PDF) soldiers on 7 December. He also said that top EAO leaders were in charge of the three commands and they already have infantry battalions on the ground.

He said: “The NUG Ministry of Defence and its allied EAOs have formed three military regional commands. The top military leaders of the EAOs are already in charge of of the military regional commands, which are known to all PDF soldiers. When conducting military operations, the PDFs soldiers must adhere to the chain of command established by the respective commanders.

He went on to explain that a PDF Military Headquarters had been established on 10 October with five departments. These are: Military Operation, Military Intelligence, Military Affairs, Quartermaster Stores and Public Safety and Security.

He also reminded the PDF soldiers that they must strictly adhere to the military code of conduct at all times.
