The Myanmar flew aerial reconnaissance helicopter flights this morning over the Pazigyi Village preventing corpses from being collected and prompting the suspension of rescue operations.

People on the ground reported that the Military Council conducted aerial reconnaissance with two Mi-35 helicopters in Pazigyi Village in Sagaing Region on 12 April at around 10:00 am.

"We observed the helicopters of the Military Council flying over the Pazigyi village. Our rescue teams are helpless because there are still numerous dead bodies that need to be collected. We must now retreat because another Mi-35 from the North Western Military Command side has appeared as well,” a volunteer on the ground told Mizzima.

At present, rescue operations have stopped and residents of six villages near Pazigyi village such as Mae Zahtaw, Htan Taw, Chaung Tha, Chaungmagyi and Ywartharyar are reportedly the conflict area.

"We learned that junta forces would be attacking from the air. The North Western Military Command will send the helicopters, I've also heard. So, we were unable to gather the bodies and bury them. Many people have left as a result of the junta airstrikes,” the volunteer said.

Although it has been confirmed that more than 80 bodies have been buried as of now, rescuers on the scene reported that there are still some bodies on the ground.

According to the rescue team, five boys and seven girls under the age of 10 were among the cremated bodies.

On 11 April at 7:45 am, the Military Council bombed Pazigyi Village by air, killing a large number of residents.

Residents claimed that more than 100 people from six villages, including Pazigyi, had died as a result of the junta airstrikes. According to reports, the death toll could rise.

The Military Council conducted aerial reconnaissance after the shooting on 11 April around 1:00 pm, and then launched another attack at 5:30 pm.

The second attack resulted in the deaths of some animals.
