Junta troops burn down three villages in Sagaing’s Sadaung Township

Junta troops entered three villages in Sagaing Region’s Sadaung Township and torched more than 90 houses on 23 December, according to National Unity Government (NUG) in exile.

A local villager said: “The junta set fire to more than 90 homes in [the villages of] Thainchaung, Htantawkone, and Kugyi Kone [in Sadaung Township]. I am still unable to reach the villages. Because of the damage we require a wide range of assistance.

Two villagers were also arrested and killed when the junta soldiers entered Kugyi Kone Village, according to the NUG’s Sagaing Township News and Information team.

On 23 December Junta soldiers entered and set fire to Thainchaung Village at noon and then did the same at Htantawkone village at 4:00 p.m. and Kugyi Kone Village at 7:00 p.m.

Previously in the east of Sadaung Township, on 21 December, junta soldiers destroyed 700 homes when they set fire to the villages of Moethauk, Lin Yin, New Lin Yin, Shan Kone, and Konegyi, according to the Sagaing Township News and Information team.
