Junta camp destroyed and soldiers killed in Naypyidaw Union Territory

Five Myanmar junta soldiers were killed and a junta army camp was destroyed in fierce fighting on 12 June in Pyinmana Township in Naypyidaw Union Territory.

People’s defence forces (PDFs) attacked the junta camp at Myay Hauk Myaung Pagoda Hill in Pyinmana Township at about 7:00 a.m. on 12 June. The fighting lasted for two hours until 9:00 a.m.

Five junta soldiers died in the fighting and the PDFs seized an MA-3, an MG-3 machine gun and 60 mm mortar shells

“The military junta camp was demolished. The joint people’s defence forces were able to withdraw without suffering any casualties and seized weapons”, said Captain Ngwe Soe of Naypyidaw PDF, one of the groups involved in the attack.

The attack was carried out by PDF Battalions 802, 806 and 1004 and the Naypyidaw PDF.

Also, on 12 June, grenade attacks in Lewe and Zabu Thiri townships in Naypyidaw Union Territory reportedly killed a policeman, though there are not yet any firm details about casualties.
