Junta artillery unit in Sagaing attacked twice in five days

Defence forces attacked a junta Artillery Unit 508 stationed near Kyauk Sitpon Village, in Sagaing Region’s Monywa Township twice within five days.

At 4:40 a.m. on 7 June, Artillery Unit No (508), also known as the Kyauk Sitpon Artillery Unit, raided a defence force base near to Yaekansu Village in Monywa Township. They killed four resistance fighters and burned two villagers to death.

In retaliation, the defence forces fired heavy weapons at Kyauk Sitpon Artillery Unit at around 7:00 p.m. on 7 June, which they claim caused a lot of damage.

Then on 12 June defence forces again attacked the Kyauk Sitpon Artillery Unit, this time with four homemade rockets that seriously injured two junta soldiers, according to a statement by the Thapyay Nyo Guerrilla Force, one of the defence forces involved in the attack.

It also said that the resistance force fighters managed to retreat without suffering any casualties, despite the junta troops firing randomly after the attack.

Defence forces involved in the attacks included the Thapyay Nyo Guerrilla Force and Special Regional Attacks Force - Monywa, amongst others.
