Defence forces kill and capture all junta soldiers in Falam Township camp

The Chin National Defense Force (CNDF) attacked a military camp in Vhar Village-Tract, in Chin State’s Falam Township and killed 11 junta soldiers, including a captain, and captured 14 soldiers.

A total of 11 junta soldiers, including a captain, were killed and a further 14 were captured when the Chin National Defense Force (CNDF) attacked a military camp in Vhar Village-Tract, in Chin State’s Falam Township.

The attack happened at about 5:30 am on 10 April. The CNDF fighters overran the camp and either killed or captured all of the 25 junta soldiers stationed there.

One civilian and one CNDF fighter were also killed in the attack, according to the CNDF.

CNDF spokesperson, Salai Cung Ngai, explained to Mizzima: “The soldiers at Vhar Camp were harassing the public. They forcibly inspect travellers and extort money from them.”

As well as capturing junta soldiers, the CNDF also confiscated weapons and ammunition. The weapons included: three MA-1, one MA-2, two MA-4 and twelve G-12 guns and two 60mmm mortars. The ammunition seized included twenty MA ammunition boxes, 37 boxes of G3 bullets, 58 rounds of 60 MM mortar ammunition, 33 rounds of 40mm mortar ammunition, eight Inaga bombs, 12 grenades, 50 claymore mines and 500 mines.

After the attack, later that day in the afternoon junta jets dropped six bombs on Vhar Village and two on nearby Waibula Town, also in Falam Township.

As a result of these airstrikes, nine civilians were killed and a further four were injured in Waibula.
