China says it is "firmly opposed" to the US House of Representatives passing a defense spending bill that includes up to $10 billion in military grant assistance to Taiwan.

Beijing also urges Canada not to politicize economic issues after its federal police suspended a contract with a Beijing-linked firm over security issues.
