Beijing warns that Taiwan's "delusional attempt" to confront militarily the mainland will "eventually fail", after Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen hailed its military's "determination" during a naval practice.

"Taiwan's delusional attempt to confront militarily the mainland is like a mantis trying to obstruct a chariot. It will eventually fail," said the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian during a daily presser.
