30 Myanmar junta soldiers killed in Ye Township

Defence forces killed over 30 junta soldiers in Mon Region’s Ye Township on 26 and 27 June.

Albino Tiger column, Ye People's Defense Force (PDF) and Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Battalion 27 joint forces attacked junta troops that were patrolling between Aungthayar Village and Kaninkamawt Village at 6:30 p.m. on 26 June and again at 7:00 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. the next day, 27 June.

Captain Yan Naing from Ye PDF said: “28 junta soldiers were killed in two days of fighting. The junta soldiers were patrolling around the villages. I don’t know what regiments they were [from], but there were a lot of soldiers there.”

During the fighting two defence force members received minor head and leg injuries from junta artillery fire.

Also on 27 June, at 10:00 a.m., a junta military column marching from Thanbyuzayat Town was attacked by defence forces near Baylamaing Village in Ye Township. Three junta soldiers were killed and another five were injured in the fighting, according to a member of the defence forces involved in the attack.

He said: “We intercepted the Military Council Column. Three Junta’s soldiers were killed and at least five were injured. Our force was able to withdraw unharmed.”

Mizzima has, so far, been unable to verify the number of dead.
