Paying homage on the 68th Martyrs’ Day in Yangon

Government officials and other members of society pay homage on the 68th anniversary of Martyrs' Day held at the Martyrs' Mausoleum in Yangon on July 19. On July 19, 1947, six months before Burma gained Independence, eight independence leaders including, General Aung San and a bodyguard of one of the leaders were assassinated by men loyal to a rival politician, U Saw, and his colleagues.
