Dawei Special Economic Zone begins to get underway

The first state of the Dawei SEZ is set to take three years and offer employment to 65,000 people. The zone will become a hub for trade with China, Cambodia and Vietnam, by land and sea. In the first step, a small port will be built that can handle ships up to 13,000 tons. The site will house a gas power plant, water supply and sanitation, communications hub, and housing for employees. Photos: Theingi Tun/Mizzima
