Rangoon - Organizers of a charity music concert to raise funds for victims of Cyclone Nargis, where Burma's premier rock band Iron Cross will perform, said tickets for the show will be printed on blank compact discs in order to avoid duplication.

In a country where there is frequent duplication of tickets for music concerts, organizers of the charity show said printing the tickets on CDs will help collect more money for victims of the cyclone as it will be identifiable from duplicated tickets.

"In most of the famous concerts in Rangoon, there are about 30 per cent tickets which are duplicated by brokers. So, in order to curb this, we have thought of printing the tickets on CDs," an official at the Myanmah Gita Asiayone or Myanmar Music Association, the group that is organizing the show, said.

In Rangoon, where Iron Cross is popular among the young, businessmen and brokers make a quick buck by printing duplicate tickets.

"In earlier shows, as tickets were printed on paper, businessmen were able to re-print duplicate tickets making it difficult to identify it at the entrance to the show," Aung Myo Htet, manager of the Iron Cross band told Mizzima.

He added that by printing the tickets this time on CDs, it will be difficult for brokers to make duplicate tickets and it will be easier to identify even if they manage to make duplicate tickets.

The printed tickets on the CDs will feature pictures of members of the Iron Cross band and will be sold in three categories of 9000, 10,000 and 15,000 Kyats. All proceedings from the show will be used as donation for cyclone victims.

The official at the Myanmar Music Association said chances of businessmen or brokers making duplicate tickets for the ensuing show have lessened as there are only two companies – Hong Pang company in Mandalay and Excellent Creation in Rangoon - that will print the tickets on CDs.

The official added while the show was initially planned for one night on August 24, with an increase in demand by fans of Iron Cross, they are being forced to extend it to a second night on August 25.

The show is particularly in demand by young fans in Rangoon as it will feature the Band's lead singer prominent rock star Lay Phyu, who had disappeared from public concerts since he last sang in the band's 15th anniversary celebration in 2005.
