NLD wins 43 seats in Burmese by-election

The Burmese Union Election Commission has announced the winners in the 2012 by-election held on April 1. The National League for Democracy (NLD) won 43 seats. The United Solidarity and Development Party won one seat. The Shan Nationalities Democratic Park won one seat.
Forty-two of the NLD seat are in the Union Parliament. The NLD will have 6.4 per cent of the seats in Parliament.
