India is likely to push Myanmar to begin negotiations for an extradition treaty that would enable Nay Pyi Taw to hand over insurgents and fugitives in future during National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval's visit to Myanmar later this week according to the Economic Times on 15 June.
Doval will meet senior officials of the Myanmar government and Army to deliberate on measures to boost bilateral security cooperation, particularly in the area of intelligence sharing and coordination among armed forces and border-guards of the two neighbouring nations to combat cross border insurgency, government officials here said. The NSA might be accompanied by Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar for this key trip, first from India since cross-border operations by the Army last week.
