Junta supremo returns to Rangoon

Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – Burmese junta supremo Snr Gen Than Shwe on Monday briefly visited Cyclone Nargis devastated Pyapone and Bogale towns in Irrawaddy delta and returned to former capital Rangoon in the evening, sources in the military establishment said. The 32-member team led by junta chief Than Shwe on Monday travelled to Bogale in three helicopters and saw cyclone shelters built in the area. Following the visit, the team halted in Pyapone town for lunch and continued their journey to Rangoon at about 3 p.m. (local time), sources said. < Prev   Next >
