Ethnic politicians host Union Day dinner in Rangoon

Rangoon (Mizzima) - Veteran ethnic politicians on Thursday hosted a Union Day dinner in Rangoon in commemoration of the 62nd anniversary of Union Day of Burma.

The dinner party held at Rangoon's Top One restaurant in Kyimyindine Township was attended by several veteran politicians, members of the Committee Representing Peoples Parliament (CRPP), and central executive members of the National League for Democracy (NLD).

Ethnic Mon politicians Naing Tun Thein and Naing Ngwe Thein gave inaugural speeches. It was  followed by speeches by Capt. Min Lwin from the veteran politician group and Win Tin and Thu Wai from the NLD.

Sources said at least 20 Special Branch Police personnel monitored the event from the ground floor of the restaurant and helpd the veterans return home after the ceremony was over.
