Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has invited Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of Myanmar’s National League for Democracy, to visit Japan at an early date, the Foreign Ministry said, according to Japan Times on November 21.
In a message to Suu Kyi, Abe expressed his congratulations on the NLD’s victory in the recent November 8 general election.
The message was conveyed by Yohei Sasakawa, Japan’s special envoy for national reconciliation in Myanmar, to a senior NLD official he met during his visit to Yangon.
